Exploring Telcel’s Branded Worlds in Fortnite
As part of Telcel’s strategy to connect with younger audiences through immersive digital experiences, two custom Fortnite Creative maps have been developed, each offering a distinct gameplay experience tailored to different player preferences: Multiverso 287C and Telcel Battle Royale.
Telcel Battle Royale
This is Telcel’s take on the classic Battle Royale format—fast-paced, skill-driven, and enhanced with unique brand-inspired mechanics. Designed for 16 players in a medium-sized arena, this map puts a Telcel twist on competitive gameplay.
Players fight to survive as the storm closes in, while strategically collecting power-ups scattered across the environment, each visually themed and named to match Telcel’s branding. Dynamic in-game events spice up the action, offering short moments of chaos or opportunity.
Highlights:
- Brand-themed power-ups: Speed bursts from Telcel 5G, damage enhancers, and low gravity moments add a strategic layer to classic combat.
- Renato piñatas: Smashing these Telcel-branded loot drops shaped like their official mascot, Renato, unlocks powerful gear and turns each spot into a mini showdown.
- Live events: Random mid-game events like “Dance Battle” or “5G Radar Ping” shake up the match and let players interact with Telcel branding in fun and unexpected ways.
Multiverso 287C
Multiverso 287C is a party-style experience set in a futuristic city built from the ground up to reflect Telcel’s brand identity. Instead of traditional combat, the map focuses on social gameplay, exploration, and fun mini-games. Players can roam freely, collect unique Telcel-themed items, and take part in dynamic activities designed to entertain while subtly reinforcing the brand’s presence.
The map transforms a typical battle royale layout into a family-friendly and replayable space with unlockable cosmetics, and a gamified reward system using “Telcel Tickets.” Designed to encourage group play, casual competition, and repeated visits, Telcel World turns Fortnite into a branded amusement park.
Highlights:
- Interactive mini-games: Paintball duels, parkour circuits, dance battles, and visual puzzles featuring Renato Gamer, all accessible via arcade machines scattered throughout the city.
- Ticket & reward system: Complete activities and missions to earn Telcel Tickets. Spend them to unlock exclusive cosmetics like the Renato Backpack or 5G Trails, and even power-ups like the Multijump Boots.
Custom zones & personalization
One of the strongest aspects of both maps is its fully customized zones, each one designed to reflect Telcel’s identity.
- Gaming Zone: A dedicated area featuring a gamer mall and a promotional stand for Gamergy, representing Telcel’s presence in one of the most important gaming events in the region.
- Festival Zone: An area with a branded concert stage where players can enjoy the “Dance Battle” minigame.
- Paintball arena & Telcel Stadium: Action-packed spots where players can enjoy themed minigames like paintball matches and football showdowns.
- Renato Statue Tour: A scenic route dedicated to Telcel’s mascot, blending branding with light exploration.
- F1 Racing Circuit: A driving zone with vehicle races, player rankings, and a Telcel-branded pit stop, adding a fast-paced twist to the match.
What we learned
Working on these two Telcel maps was genuinely a great experience. From designing a colorful open-world playground full of secrets and minigames, to dropping into a fast-paced battle royale with custom power-ups, this project let us blend creativity, tech, and storytelling in the best way possible.
More than just maps, these experiences show how brands can feel right at home in the gaming world when the content is playful, meaningful, and built with players in mind. It’s not about pushing logos, it’s about creating moments that players want to come back to.
