BYD brings the first-ever drone show to Fortnite

In collaboration with GGTech Studios, BYD has made history in a new Fortnite Creative experience featuring the first drone show ever created in the game.

Inspired by BYD’s real-world 1000-drone show in Rome celebrating the launch of the BYD Dolphin Surf, the project lights up Fortnite’s sky with a digital recreation of the brand’s spectacle, a milestone in how real events can evolve into interactive entertainment.

The project also reflects BYD’s ambition to connect with younger audiences in an authentic way, not through traditional advertising, but through gameplay as storytelling.

Two maps, one vision

BYD Future City

The first map invites players into a futuristic city where they can explore freely. Designed as a solo-friendly experience, it features narrative-driven missions, light puzzles, and hidden secrets that reflect BYD’s innovative spirit and cutting-edge tech.

BYD Racing

The second map switches things up with fast-paced action. Built using Fortnite’s Rocket Racing tools, this track takes players through a sleek sci-fi circuit packed with boost zones, sharp turns, and BYD-branded surprises. Whether racing solo to beat your best time or joining time-based events with friends, it’s a perfect fit for showrooms, activations, and online competitions.

Gameplay as brand storytelling

From concept to execution, every detail was designed to turn BYD’s identity into something players can feel and interact with. Picking up a power-up, exploring a tech-inspired city, or racing across neon-lit tracks, it’s all about experiencing the brand, not just seeing it.

The project reaches its peak with the drone show, created entirely in Unreal Editor for Fortnite (UEFN). Each of the 1000 virtual drones was carefully placed and animated, evoking the choreography of BYD’s real-world performance in Rome.

These maps are a great example of how gaming can bring brands to life, and we’re proud to have helped BYD make it possible.
